NSFA, Panacan, Davao City – A four months pregnant mother was one of the four killed during the massacre perpetrated by NPA bandits in Sitio Latay, Barangay Marfil, Rosario, Agusan del Sur on November 30, 2014.
Assisting troops of 75th Infantry Battalion under Lt Col Norman Alcovindas identified the victim as Jocelyn Cerna, 27 years old, a Manobo mother and resident of the same Barangay.
Alcovindas is appealing to those who are skilled in handling traumatic situation to support their efforts in assisting the survivors and families of the victims.
“We cannot imagine the trauma that the survivors and the families of the victims are suffering. It is for this reason that we are appealing to the organizations and persons who are skilled to assist in handling trauma cases” Alcovindas said.
In a spontaneous indignation rally on December 2, 2014 participated in by more or less 500 barangay folks who are mostly Indigenous People, they condemned the act and urged the NPAs to spare the civilians, the woman and the children in their terroristic acts and for the NPAs to leave them to allow peace to reign in their communities.
