Army celebrates Nat’l Reservist Week with tree planting

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – Army personnel from Headquarters Philippine Army (HPA) and citizen soldiers from National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group (NCRRCDG) of the Army Reserve Command spearhead a tree planting activity around HPA Complex and Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on Saturday, September 6.

A total of 300 Cherry Blossom Seedlings were planted during the said tree planting in celebration of the 35th National Reservist Week (NRW) and the Philippine Army’s commitment to support the government’s National Greening Program (NGP).

The AFP Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM) is spearheading the preparation of the yearly celebration of NRW in coordination with the Reserve Commands of the three major service branches – the Army, Air Force and Navy.

NRW brings together representatives from all AFP reserve units throughout the country, to discuss current issues about the reserve movement, and to encourage feedback on the relationship between the regular AFP, the national government, and the so-called “citizen-soldiers” of the country.

The reservists are citizen-soldiers of our country whose solemn commitment is to nobly assist in Peace and Development.

Over the years, they have proven their worth in peacekeeping, nation-building and crisis management as well as the ready-reserve force that can be mobilized during the time of war.

It is in no doubt that the reservists have established a name in a league of their own as unsung heroes providing true public service for the country and its people.
